Japanese Real Estate Move-in Questionnaire

Tenancy Application Questionnaire

A questionnaire collecting housing preferences and applicant information. Its format, required fields and submission timing vary by agent, manager and property.

Organize preferences before applying

An ankēto is a questionnaire, not a nationwide statutory rental form. ELB uses it to organize preferences and basic circumstances. It differs from a management company’s formal application and does not establish a lease, screening approval or reservation.

MLIT provides a preferences checklist separately from application and contract documents. We refer to that approach to organizing needs; it does not imply official certification of ELB’s form.

Separate essentials from preferences

ELB suggestion: start with total monthly budget, upfront cost limit, commute destination, move-in deadline and occupants, then mark essentials. Label unknowns rather than guessing. For a selected property, confirm its application form, evidence and deadlines. Keep your adviser informed of changes to avoid repeated discussions.

  • Budget for both monthly and upfront costs.
  • Specify occupants and essential requirements.
  • Confirm property-specific documents before applying.
